Dr. Hiram Ting is an Associate Professor in the Faculty of Hospitality and Tourism Management, UCSI University. Moreover, he is the Chairman of the Sarawak Research Society (SRS) and the Founding Leader of Southeast Asia Research Academy (SEARA). He is also attached to universities abroad, such as Ming Chuan University (Taiwan), Polytechnic University of the Philippines (Philippines), Griffith University (Australia), Wakayama University (Japan) and Universitas Islam Bandung (Indonesia). He is currently serving as Editor-in-Chief of Young Consumers and Journal of Responsible Tourism Management, Managing Editor of Asian Journal of Business Research, and an Advisory Board and Editorial Board member of several local and international journals. He has been actively involved in multidisciplinary behavioural research and consultancy projects, covering topics related to generation marketing, consumer behaviour, responsible tourism, hospitality service and management. His papers are published in top tier journals, including International Journal of Contemporary Hospitality Management, European Journal of Marketing, Internet Research, British Food Journal, and Tourism Management. He has served as special issue Guest Editor of more than 20 journals, including British Food Journal, European Business Review and Journal of Hospitality and Tourism Research. Hiram is Associate Professor at the Faculty of Hospitality and Tourism Management, UCSI University (Sarawak Campus), Malaysia. He is also the Vice President of MAG (Marketing in Asia Group) Scholar and the Chairman of the Sarawak Research Society (SRS), a scholarly NGO established to nurture rising researchers and provide platforms for networking and collaboration between academics, practitioners, and communities. Being the Managing Editor of the Asian Journal of Business Research (AJBR, indexed in SCOPUS, listed in ERA, ranked in ABDC), Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Responsible Tourism Management, as well as an Advisory Board and Editorial Board member of a number of local and international journals, such as Journal of Global Marketing, Journal of Consumer Behaviour and British Food Journal, he has been actively involved in multidisciplinary behavioural research and consultancy projects, covering topics and issues related to generation marketing, consumer behaviour, education, tourism, hospitality, and management. His papers are published in indexed journals, including the Internet Research, European Journal of Marketing, Tourism Management, International Journal of Contemporary Hospitality Management, Tourism Economics, Marketing Intelligence and Planning, Journal of Retailing and Consumer Services and Social Indicator Research. He has served as the Guest Editor of several SSCI/SCOPUS journals, including British Food Journal, International Journal of Manpower, Journal of Hospitality and Tourism Research, Journal of Consumer Behaviour, Young Consumers and European Business Review. Given his passion in research, he has won best paper awards nine times, a young service researcher award in 2014 and an Emerald Literati Award in 2018. He is appointed as the first and currently only EMERALD Ambassador in East Asia, working closely with the teams in Asia, Australasia and UK.


He is a HRDF registered trainer, providing workshops on research methodology, statistical analysis, qualitative research, how to supervise students and publication for numerous universities and government agencies. He is/has been serving as a socio-economic research committee member at the Associated Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Industry Sarawak (ACCCIS), Visiting Professor at Methodist Pilley Institute, Consultant at Asia Metropolitan College, Associate Fellow at the Institute of Borneo Studies, Universiti Malaysia Sarawak, as well as supervisor of postgraduate students at several institutions including Universiti Teknologi MARA, University College of Technology Sarawak, SEGi University, Asia Metropolitan College, Asia e University and Open University Malaysia. Aside from his involvement in local research activities, he is attached to international institutions, such as the Associate Member at the Relation Marketing Cluster at Griffith University in Australia, Adjunct Associate Professor at the School of Tourism, Ming Chuan University in Taiwan, Professorial Chair at two colleges at Polytechnic University of the Philippines in the Philippines, Visiting Researcher at Center for Tourism Research, Wakayama University in Japan and Scientific Board Member at Research Synergy Foundation in Indonesia. Currently he is also Founding Leader of Southeast Asia Research Academy (www.searanetwork.org), a body that comprises scholars and practitioners from every country in Southeast Asia.
